Singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Kolton James takes the responsibility of keeping rock and roll alive quite seriously - himself less so. He sneaks boogie riffs, bent strings, and pieces of his mind into both pop structures and improvised excursions. While evoking the likes of indie-rockers the Strokes or something more rustic like the Stones, James' idiosyncratic lyrics range from the deeply personal to musings on society in an age of collapsing bridges, buildings, and trust. Still, he exudes a tempered optimism for music, love, and fighting the good fight.
Kolton featured in Norcal groups Electric Teenage Bedroom, the Phantom Jets, Order of the Golden Mirror, the Wanchai Daggers, Drive-Thru Mystics, and he currently contributes to Mondo Deco, Would-Be Train Robbers, and South San Lucas. The pause in band activity for 2020 led James to focus on his solo material, recording an acoustic EP, and laying groundwork for a full-length electric album coming in the second half of 2021.
